Here's Yann's experience, who was lucky enough to win the RFM competition to be in the sudios the day of the recording on November 4th, 2005.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Yesterday I had the privilege of attending to a very private show made
by a French radio called RFM for the promotion of the Ultimate
Collection CD.
It was a dream actually.
Everything began tuesday when I received a phone call on my cell to
invite me 3 days later, friday, at a broadcast recording. I won this
invitation because a drawing lots was made by the radio, you simply had
to send the word "Live" following with your cell number by SMS. About 400
hundred SMS were sent to the radio and only 15 people got a place. We
were 30 people plus the technical crew, and with the band.
I 've been there with Philipe, an other french fan as
passionated as I am. Philippe was wearing his Peace army shirt and I
was wearing a Peace T-shirt, it's not every day that we can show our
pride to be fan. The opening should be at 19.45 and the begining should
be at 20.00.
It began with about half an hour late due to the rehearseal with the
band, a new band and 3 new choir girls besides. And a new assistant girl
for Annie.
So as good fans we were waiting at the front of the radio from 18.30.
Only 10 or 12 people were waiting outside because no publicity was made
for this event that will be aired in France in 15th december. And I
think that we were the 2 only fans from the list.
So suddenly a big grey mercedes stopped at the front of the door with
Annie and Dave. The band was already inside the studio. Annie and Dave
stood on the pavement while 5 or 6 photographers were taking pics for 5
minutes. Then they both signed the Philippe's We Too Are One tourbook
and my I've got a life CD and after came inside for the rehearseal.
They were wearing the same suits as at the London exhibition. And Dave
had the same big sunglasses too. They were so ..... beautiful.
While waiting on the small queue we had to sign a discharge sheet
because the show was filmed too.
And finally we were allowed to come inside. The RFM studio belong to a
big french radio called EUROPE1 but the studio was very small actually.
May be 5 x 5 meters, so we were very close to Eurythmics. The band was
on a small platform with no more place for Dave and Annie. So imagine
that Dave and Annie decided to sang on the studio table, about 2 meters
diametral. For Annie's voice the show began with songs after with interview.
Eurythmics played live I've got a life, There must be an angel, Here
comes the rain again and Sweet Dreams. And later during the interview
Dave played J'aime les filles in french and improvised a song which
could be called J'aime le camenbert !!!
After the songs Annie and Dave sat around the table juste in front of us
3 people were filming the show.
Believe me it was great, there is no words to describe the feeling i had
to have Annie and Dave singing live just in front of me. Much better
than every concert even if we were already lucky to have the best seats
at the latest Paris concert. The full show took 54 minutes.
During the interview they spoke about their begining, the ultimate
collection, the remasterd CDs, the France, reprises, french cheese,
so-called dispute between them, the root of sweet dreams, awards... It
was funny most of the time and at the third degree!
Dave told that they wrote 386 songs and that his best award will be the
Hall od Fame next week. Annie laughed at a song called Born to be alive
that she had to choose among 23 others. She was laughing about the
prononciation of BORN by the singer.
At the end Annie and Dave came backstage, Dave came back in the studio a few minutes later and he accepted that we took some pics. He is really a
great man, very kind.
Of course like before the show, I and Philippe were standing outside the
radio to see Dave and Annie for a last time. We were only two in the street.
And as a final act Dave and Annie made a farewell hand gesture throught
the car window.
I picked up at the end the the J'aime les filles lyrics sheet that Dave
used to sing.
There are so many things to say but that should be a good summary. I am
still on a other planet."

Yann
